24 Hour Theatre SLAM!

Last year we held our first 24-Hour Theatre Slam. It was such a huge success we are repeating the fun again this year! Plan to participate in our second 24 Hour Theatre Program on October 16-17, 2009. EGRHS students will write, rehearse and perform short original one-act plays all within a 24 hour period. Twelve hours to write the script, and twelve to rehearse! Lots of opportunities to get involved. Great fun!

Student Productions

Each year the club produces an all-student run show, which serves as another opportunity for students to become involved on the stage, as well as a successful fundraiser for the Club. Past shows have included, Midsummer Night's Dream, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Taming of the Shrew, and Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None.

International Thespian Society

EGRHS is a member of the International Thespian Society, troupe #4241. The International Thespian Society is an honorary organization for high-school and middle-school theatre students located at more than 3,600 affiliated secondary schools across America, Canada, and abroad. The mission of ITS is to honor student excellence in the theater arts; its motto is, "Act well your part; there all the honor lies."

Students earn Thespian points when they are involved in any aspect of our productions. The point system is determined by the ITS. After earning 10 points, a student is eligible to be inducted into our ITS Troupe #4241. Each May, a Thespian Society Induction and Awards Ceremony is held, where new members are inducted and existing members are recognized for additional Thespian points earned. Graduating Thespian seniors are also recognized during this moving ceremony which is a highlight of the school year. The Thespian Society Induction and Award ceremony for the current school year will be held May 4, 2010, 7:30 p.m. in the Little Auditorium.

Membership in the International Thespian Society is a respected addition on college applications and the Thespian point system is the criteria by which the EGRHS Stage Boosters select scholarships for seniors.
